As a Claims Coordinator, you will play a direct role in resolving cargo claims for our customers by documenting, evaluating, filing, and closing cases. You will be a partner within Risk and Compliance, along with Operations, to analyze potential claims with shippers, carriers, and related parties.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 years’ experience in the freight forwarding industry is required; preferably with a solid grasp of cargo insurance claims.
  • Experience organizing and generating digital documentation (reports, media files, etc.).
  • Previous experience using CargoWise One ERP system is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and be flexible with changes to systems and methods.
  • Clear and effective communication skills.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist customers with cargo claims against transportation companies for shortages, damaged freight, and private property damage.
  • Assist with work that encompasses our knowledge of terms and conditions:
    • Idle cargo matters, container and demurrage disputes, customs penalties, outstanding accounting cases, and insurance certifications.
  • Investigate claims to determine validity and coverage under the terms of contracts and insurance policies.
  • Process freight and property claims for which the company is liable and submit to head office for settlement or negotiation.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date claim records and documentation, ensuring timely updates to clients and internal team.
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as Sales, Operations, and Accounting to ensure timely and accurate processing of claims.
  • Communicate with customers, insurance companies, carriers, and vendors regarding claim disputes or issues. 
  • Assist in the development/updates of claims procedures and initiatives.
Salary:
  • $22-$28/hour dependent on transferable experience and education level.
